Certificate of Residence in Thailand: Immigration or Embassy, and What It Is Used For

อ่านภาษาไทย (Thai version)

Certificate of residence for foreigners

A certificate of residence confirms a foreigner's address in Thailand. It is issued by local Immigration offices and, for some nationalities, by the embassy. Thai offices such as the Department of Land Transport, banks and vehicle registration ask for it because foreigners do not have a Thai house registration ID. Immigration usually wants your passport, TM.30 address record, a lease or owner's documents and photographs.

We do not publish company service prices. Ask our team for a case-specific quotation; official fees remain those announced by the authority on the filing date.

TM.30 is the foundation

Immigration checks that your address has been reported under the TM.30 rule by the house owner or landlord. If no record exists, or it shows an old address, the certificate will be delayed. We check this first and help the landlord file if needed.

  • Passport with current stay and arrival card or record
  • TM.30 receipt for the current address
  • Lease or the owner's ID and house registration copy
  • Recent photographs as the office requests

How we work, step by step

  1. Confirm the issuing office. We identify the Immigration office or embassy that serves your address.
  2. Check TM.30. We confirm the address report exists and is current.
  3. Prepare the file. We complete the form and organise copies the office expects.
  4. Submit. You attend the office; some issue the same day, others later.
  5. Use it. We explain which offices accept it and how recent it needs to be.

Questions we are asked most

How long is a certificate of residence valid?

Receiving offices decide what they accept; many want it recently issued.

Can my embassy issue it instead?

Some embassies do, others no longer offer it. Check whether the receiving office accepts the embassy version.

Do you publish prices or guarantee the outcome?

No. We quote after looking at your documents and situation, and every decision is made by the Thai authority concerned. We will tell you plainly when we think a plan is weak.
