Registering a Baby Born in Thailand with a Foreign Parent: Thai Birth Certificate and Passports

อ่านภาษาไทย (Thai version)

Birth registration for children with a foreign parent

Every birth in Thailand must be reported to the district office within the legal time limit, using the hospital's birth notification. The office issues a Thai birth certificate. If one parent is Thai the child may have Thai nationality; the foreign parent's country may also recognise citizenship, which is registered separately with that embassy and usually needs a certified translation of the Thai certificate.

We do not publish company service prices. Ask our team for a case-specific quotation; official fees remain those announced by the authority on the filing date.

Two registrations, not one

Parents often finish the Thai registration and then discover the embassy needs extra items: an English translation certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the parents' marriage record, or proof of the foreign parent's residence history. Planning both at the same time saves months.

  • Hospital birth notification (Tor Ror 1/1)
  • Parents' passports, Thai ID and house registration
  • Marriage certificate if married
  • Translations of the Thai birth certificate for the embassy

How we work, step by step

  1. Report the birth. The parent registers the birth at the district office using the hospital notification.
  2. Check names. We check the child's name spelling for both Thai and foreign documents.
  3. Translate and certify. We translate the birth certificate into English and arrange MFA certification.
  4. Embassy registration. You submit the citizenship or passport application to the foreign parent's embassy.
  5. Child's visa. If the child holds only a foreign passport, we help plan the child's stay in Thailand.

Questions we are asked most

What if the parents are not married?

Registration is still required. Recognition of the father and citizenship transmission may need extra documents; check with the district office and the embassy.

Can the child have two nationalities?

It depends on both countries' laws. We prepare documents; nationality decisions belong to the authorities.

Do you publish prices or guarantee the outcome?

No. We quote after looking at your documents and situation, and every decision is made by the Thai authority concerned. We will tell you plainly when we think a plan is weak.
