Thailand Retirement Visa Preparation: O-A From Abroad or Extension in Thailand

อ่านภาษาไทย (Thai version)

Retirement visa preparation (O-A and O)

Retirees aged 50 and over usually take one of two routes: a Non-Immigrant O-A visa applied for from abroad through the Thai e-Visa system, or a Non-Immigrant O visa converted into a yearly retirement extension at Immigration in Thailand. Both depend on financial evidence and, for O-A, health insurance meeting current rules. Amounts and accepted evidence change, so we check them against official sources for your application date.

We do not publish company service prices. Ask our team for a case-specific quotation; official fees remain those announced by the authority on the filing date.

Choosing the route

Applying from abroad suits people who want to arrive with long-term status. Extending in Thailand suits people already here on a suitable visa who can show Thai bank deposits or income. Each has different documents, timing and risks, and nationality affects which embassies or e-Visa offices you can use.

  • Passport valid for the required period
  • Financial evidence in the form Immigration currently accepts
  • Health insurance certificate where required
  • Police and medical certificates for O-A applications

How we work, step by step

  1. Assess eligibility. We review age, nationality, finances and where you are now.
  2. Pick the route. We explain the trade-offs between O-A and extension in Thailand.
  3. Prepare evidence. We organise bank letters, insurance, police and medical documents.
  4. Apply. You submit online or attend Immigration; we check the file before submission.
  5. Annual cycle. We remind you of 90-day reports, re-entry permits and renewal timing.

Questions we are asked most

Can I work on a retirement visa?

No. Retirement status does not permit employment in Thailand.

Can my spouse under 50 stay with me?

Often as a dependant, subject to current rules and marriage evidence.

Do you publish prices or guarantee the outcome?

No. We quote after looking at your documents and situation, and every decision is made by the Thai authority concerned. We will tell you plainly when we think a plan is weak.
