Thai Citizenship for Foreigners: Naturalisation Routes, Documents and Interview

Foreigners may apply for Thai nationality under the Nationality Act. Applicants generally must be adults of good conduct with a regular occupation, have lived in Thailand for the period the law requires and speak Thai. Some conditions are relaxed for foreign spouses of Thai nationals. The process takes years and includes interviews, tests and background checks by several agencies.
We do not publish company service prices. Ask our team for a case-specific quotation; official fees remain those announced by the authority on the filing date.
Common routes
Most applicants hold permanent residence and have worked and paid tax in Thailand for years. Spouses of Thai nationals have a separate route with some conditions relaxed, but must show a genuine marriage and life in Thailand.
Check your current country's rules first: some treat naturalisation elsewhere as automatic loss of nationality.
- Permanent residents
- Foreign wives of Thai men
- Foreign husbands of Thai women, under current criteria
- Special cases for contributions to Thailand
Interview and Thai language
You must understand and speak everyday Thai, and some stages include singing the national and royal anthems. We help you rehearse common questions; assessment belongs to the committee.
How we work, step by step
- Assess eligibility. We identify your route and any gaps.
- Check dual nationality. Confirm your home country's rules before deciding.
- Gather and translate. Tax and income history, house registration, medical certificate, home-country documents.
- File and interview. Submit to the receiving authority and attend interviews.
- Follow through. After approval, complete civil registration and the Thai ID card.
Questions we are asked most
Do I need permanent residence first?
On the general route, yes. Some spouses of Thai nationals are exempt.
Must I renounce my current nationality?
Thai law does not always require it, but your home country may. Check its law.
Do you publish prices or guarantee the outcome?
No. We quote after looking at your documents and situation, and every decision is made by the Thai authority concerned. We will tell you plainly when we think a plan is weak.
