Getting a Certified Copy of a Thai Birth Certificate or House Registration

Thai birth, marriage, divorce and house registration records are kept by district offices. If the original is lost or a receiving office abroad wants a recent certified copy, the person named — or someone with their authorisation — can request one from a district office. The copy can then be translated and certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for use overseas.
We do not publish company service prices. Ask our team for a case-specific quotation; official fees remain those announced by the authority on the filing date.
Old records and spelling differences
Older handwritten records sometimes differ from later ID cards — a different spelling, a missing middle name, or a changed surname. Spot these before translation; the English version must match the passport, and inconsistencies may need a supporting letter.
- Thai ID or passport of the person named
- Authorisation letter if a representative applies
- Details of the district and year of registration
How we work, step by step
- Identify the record. We confirm which document and which district office holds it.
- Request the copy. You or an authorised person applies at a district office.
- Check details. We compare names and dates with the passport.
- Translate. We translate the certified copy into English or the language required.
- Certify. We arrange MFA certification and embassy legalisation if needed.
Questions we are asked most
Can any district office issue the copy?
Many records are available through the national system, but some old records are held only locally. Ask first.
Do you publish prices or guarantee acceptance?
No. We quote after seeing the documents, and acceptance is decided by the office that receives them.
