Using a Thai Divorce Abroad, or a Foreign Divorce in Thailand

อ่านภาษาไทย (Thai version)

Divorce documents for use abroad

A divorce registered at a Thai district office produces a divorce certificate and an updated record; a court divorce produces a judgment. To remarry or update records abroad, these are usually translated and certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and sometimes legalised. A foreign divorce may need to be recorded in Thailand before the Thai partner can remarry here. We prepare documents; legal questions go to your lawyer.

We do not publish company service prices. Ask our team for a case-specific quotation; official fees remain those announced by the authority on the filing date.

Both directions

Thai to foreign: translate and certify the certificate or judgment. Foreign to Thai: legalise the foreign decree at the Thai embassy in that country, translate into Thai and certify, then file at the district office.

How we work, step by step

  1. Identify the record. We confirm whether you have an administrative or court divorce.
  2. Obtain originals. You obtain certified copies or the final judgment.
  3. Translate. We translate with names matching passports.
  4. Certify. We arrange MFA certification and legalisation as required.
  5. Record. You file with the foreign registry or Thai district office.

Questions we are asked most

Can you advise on custody or property?

No. Those are legal questions for your lawyer.

Do you publish prices or guarantee acceptance?

No. We quote after seeing the documents, and acceptance is decided by the office that receives them.
