K-ETA for Thai Citizens 2026: 7 Application Steps, 3-Year Validity, What to Do If Refused

Thai passport holders should check their current status on the official K-ETA website or app before applying. Korea's temporary exemption through 31 December 2026 applies only to countries or regions already in the exempt group, and the application system displays a notice after the passport information page is scanned. If an application is required, assessment normally takes about 72 hours with no express channel. K-ETA is not a visa and does not guarantee entry.
We do not publish company service prices. Ask our team for a case-specific quotation; official fees remain those announced by the authority on the filing date.
What the K-ETA is — and what it is not
The K-ETA is an online pre-travel authorisation for nationals of countries that may enter Korea without a visa. Korea extended the temporary exemption for countries or regions already in the exempt group through 31 December 2026. Thai passport holders should scan their passport information page in the official system to see the current status notice before applying.
According to the official site, the K-ETA is not a visa. It is one condition of visa-free entry: immigration officers at the airport can still refuse entry, and the K-ETA's validity period is not the length of stay allowed per visit.
- Apply before boarding — applying after departure or after arrival can lead to refusal or entry restrictions
- Valid 3 years from approval, or until passport expiry if earlier
- The fee is not refunded if the application is refused — check the current rate on the official site
- Covers only activities allowed under visa-free entry, such as tourism, family visits and short meetings — never work
Beware of look-alike and paid-agent websites
The official site itself warns about look-alike websites that charge high fees while claiming to apply on your behalf or to speed up results. No express channel exists. Before entering card details, confirm you are on k-eta.go.kr or using the K-ETA app published by the Korean government.
Global Visa Service does not submit K-ETA applications through third-party sites and does not promise approval. What we do is review your details before you submit, and help you prepare an embassy visa application if the K-ETA is refused.
Common reasons for refusal and what to do next
Korean authorities do not publish detailed reasons in every case, but they state clearly that false or inaccurate information can lead to refusal or cancellation. The mistakes we see most often are inconsistent employment and income details, an unclear accommodation address in Korea, a photo that does not meet the standard, and a previous overstay record.
If your application is refused, do not rush to re-apply with the same details. Review every field first, or consider applying for a C-3 tourist visa at the Korean embassy with proper financial and employment evidence, where officers assess real documents.
- Enter your name exactly as printed on the passport data page
- Give a complete accommodation address in Korea (hotel or host's address)
- Employment and occupation details must be verifiable
- Use a front-facing photo on a light background, without glasses or a hat
How we work, step by step
- Accept the terms. Open k-eta.go.kr or the K-ETA app, start a new application and accept the terms.
- Register or verify email. Register as a member to track results easily, or verify by email as a non-member.
- Enter passport details. Scan the passport data page and double-check every character.
- Enter travel details. Purpose, accommodation, occupation and contact details — all truthful.
- Review everything. Check every field before paying; wrong details can cause refusal.
- Pay the fee. Pay online; the fee is not refunded if refused.
- Wait for the result. Usually within 72 hours; apply well before booking non-refundable tickets.
